About Us

First let me thank you for taking some time to visit our site. We are thrilled to be launching two such exciting websites and being able to watch them grow together.

My name is Margaret Dent ( formerly Yung) and I currently work as a Vice Principal in the Nanaimo School District on Vancouver Island.

What follows is a little of my history which explains how and why we have launched FunBC.

Seventeen years ago I was diagnosed with Leukemia Now I am a proud to be a cancer survivor and loving every day life gives me.

I have worked in West Vancouver, Parksville and Nanaimo School Districts over the last 20 years in elementry schools an am proud to have taught many amazing kids who have turned into amazing adults!  I am also a dance teacher and created an organisation called Project Dance that has taught thousands of children the power dance has in bringing people and communities together.

I  have two beautiful and engaging children and loving husband Bill who supports me in all me endeavours. They remind me every day of  what is important in the world and I am eternally grateful to have them in my life.

Every day we hear about the bad things happening in the world and sometimes we forget that the same thing is happening to people and families in our own province.

In our own way we can all make a difference in someone's life. We hope that through this website, we can make that happen.
